Sunday; Family, How Much They Mean To You... #2

Hello everyone!! I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas spending it with family or friends. This year was great for me I got truly spoiled which is always nice, my family always take Christmas a little too far with presents just to show everyone how much they love them.

Christmas this year was also different, my uncle had been battling cancer for a long time now and over the last month or two he had slowly been getting worse. Earlier in the year he was told there was nothing more they could do, they had tried everything. On the 20th December the doctors told my aunt that he wouldn't last the night but he fought hard. On Christmas eve we decided to visit him because my dad knew that this could be the last time we ever saw him. The doctors had set up a hospital bed for him in his home to make him more comfortable and because that's what he wanted. He was so pale and dead looking, he didn't look like the same man that I had seen just a week before, he wasn't awake but he could hear us. We were the last ones to see him alive, 5:25am on Christmas morning he passed away. I've never lost a family member before until now and its been a few days but I feel so lost, in 2011 I lost a friend that I had never met before.

Leah's death hit me hard, even though I had never met her she meant a lot to me, she was strong and suffered a long time (Leah's family set up "The Leah Wilby Foundation" in memory of her. The charity's aims was to buy a caravan and provide holiday accommodation in Great Yarmouth to families in the UK with young children who suffer from childhood cancer.) This time because its a family member it hit me harder, I couldn't stop crying when my mum told me, I felt like my heart had been ripped out. I never imagined I would ever write about this but I needed an outlet to write about how I feel but there isn't many words to describe my feelings. I've realised a lot this Christmas that family is extremely important and sometimes I take mine for granted because I don't understand how much they mean to me until someone is taken away. Knowing I saw my uncle before he passed means a lot because it means I got to say goodbye. If you're reading this I want you to take a moment to go and tell your family how much they mean to you before its too late.

Sorry for the slightly gloomy post today but I just had to let some of my feelings out because I feel like I can't speak about them or I'll just burst into tears but I hope you all have a lovely day and think about what your family really means to you.

Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas everyone!! I hope everyone gets what they wanted and have a lovely day!! I got DOLLY PARTON tickets for Manchester in June which I cannot believe, I was told we couldn't get them but when I finally got to the last box (they wrapped a CD in about 10 boxes) and tore it open to reveal a CD telling me I was going to see her I couldn't believe it and actually started crying. I also got lots more and I'm truly blessed. I hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are doing.

Mince Pies & Gingerbread Cupcakes..

Hello Everyone!! Its Christmas Eve, I can't actually believe how fast this year has been. I'm currently sitting on my bed surrounded by presents that need to be wrapped up but I'm just not in the mood for wrapping. I've been putting it off for days now and really must do it but instead I'm typing up this blog post.

Today's post is a cooking/DIY style post, last night my older sister and I both decided it was a good idea to start baking. Earlier in the week Tanya Burr put up a youtube video on how to make gingerbread cupcakes with toffee icing and mince pies so we followed her video which you can find here. They were really easy to make and super yummy. My first batch didn't turn out so well as I left them in for 5 minutes too long but they were still good to eat and everyone enjoyed them. These treats are great for a night like tonight, it's Christmas Eve and here in Glasgow its miserable. It hasn't stopped raining (icy rain) all day so its a perfect night to either bake these delicious treats and then curl up with a Christmas movie on.

Today is the last day of blogmas, I've really enjoyed posting every day till Christmas even though I did struggle in the middle of the month to think of some ideas. I know I didn't exactly announce I was doing it but I loved it and its got me more determined to blog more throughout 2014. I will probably post tomorrow just wishing everyone a merry Christmas. I hope you all have a lovely day/evening!!

Santa Claus Is Coming to Town...

Hello everyone!! Today I was going to post a little cooking post but my computer decides it wants to take forever importing photos so I'll put it up tomorrow as a little Christmas eve treat.

1. Do you already have presents for everyone?
Sure do, finished the other day
2. To how many Christmas markets have you been so far this year?
One, every year I visit and this year was no different.

3. Do you have an advent calendar? If so, what was in it today?
Yeah I do, today it was a chocolate shaped Christmas pudding

4. With whom will you be celebrating this year? Would you like it to be different?
My family & no I like it this way

5. Will you be going to church?
erm I think so
6. Do you have any Christmas accident stories?
hm no I don't think so... well I can't really remember any so I'm afraid not

7. What is one thing that reminds you of last years Christmas (a book, a song, a dish…)?
Any time its quite really because last year it was so quite at my Gran's house. Normally we have my uncle, auntie and cousins up at my grans along with my little family but they spend it in Spain with my auntie's family so it was rather quite.

8. Does your family sing together or make music on Christmas?
Nope although it would be pretty funny if we did because everyone is pretty terrible at singing.

9. What is the least Christmassy thing you did/do that felt/feels like Christmas?
least Christmassy? Everything I normally do isn't very Christmassy apart from listening to Christmas songs

10. Would you travel over the Christmas holidays? Where to?
I would love to travel to America but I don't think I could because it just wouldn't be the same as spending Christmas at home even if my family were with me.

11. Christmas or New Year’s Eve?
Christmas for sure, I never do anything exciting at Christmas apart from watching Still Game & Only an Excuse so definitely Christmas.

Hope you all enjoyed reading & I'll see you tomorrow

Sunday post: Catch Up #1

Hello everyone!! I decided as it's Sunday to do a little catch up of how my week has been.

This week has been so busy that I have had hardly any sleep or just sit down time and I thought today would be the day to do it but I completely forgot that tonight I'm off to see Calvin Harris and Tiesto at the Hydro in Glasgow. I have been so looking forward to it since the day we bought the tickets but I found out today that I'm going to be sitting myself due to my sister getting tickets nowhere near each other so now I don't really want to go. Maybe tonight when I go it won't be as bad as I'm making it out to be.

I have finished all my Christmas shopping which means I don't have to go out at last minute for gifts which is fantastic. Every year I normally panic at the last minute because I have forgot to get something an end up stressing out about it but this year I won't have to. The only thing I'm not organised with is my wrapping, I just can't be bothered to wrap presents. I'm not the best at wrapping anyway but I just can't bring myself to get the presents wrapped. Hopefully by Monday night I'll be finished so I can just laze about on Tuesday.

Tomorrow I think my older sister and I are going to be doing some baking, we are hoping to make some Christmas cupcakes, mince pies and gingerbread men or a gingerbread house. I love baking at Christmas, it gets me in the festive mood and makes me really happy. Last year I made some peppermint bark from a recipe I found on Pinterest and it turned out fantastic and was a great hit with my friends and family but this year I just want to try some other recipes out and hopefully they will turn out just as good.

I've also been hit with some good news today which is it's suppose to be snowing on Christmas Day which is awesome!! I love snow and when it was a white Christmas in 2010 it was great, it made the day a whole lot better. I know a lot of people don't like the snow but I'm the opposite, it makes me smile like crazy.

I hope you enjoyed reading my little Sunday catch up and I'm thinking of doing these more often. If you like the idea of making these posts a regular thing leave a comment below telling me your thoughts. Have a lovely day x

Secret Santa Gifts

Hello everyone!! I thought I would show you today what my secret santa got me, for the last few years my friends and I have decided to do secret santa instead of buying each person in my friend ship group a present. I got my friend Katrina and I made her some mugs which I forgot to take some pictures of and some owl things which I thought was nice and she loved the presents. My friend Lorna got me and I was extremely pleased with what she got me because each item is something that I love.

I love everything she got me & I'm so thankful for my wonderful friends. I hope you enjoyed reading!!

Make Yourself Happy Rather Than Others

Hello everyone!! I thought I would share another little quote with you as lately I've been super busy and tired so I haven't had enough time to plan my posts but hopefully soon I'll have some better posts up.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately that I should be doing things that make me happy rather than trying to please everyone else. At this time of the year we are always trying to please people with gifts that you hope they may like rather than buying something that made you happy to buy. If you put a lot of thought and work into buying the gift then that is all that matters really. I always feel though that in my day to day activities I'm not pleasing enough people when really it shouldn't matter because if I'm enjoying myself then that is the main thing. If you ever feel like you need to try and please someone, stop because if its not making you happy then you shouldn't be doing it. Only do the things in life that are enjoyable to you and no one else.

Hope you enjoyed this post and you take a few minutes to stop trying to please others and just make yourself happy.

Christmas Tag...

Hello everyone!! Yesterday I know I said I would post the pictures from the pantomime today but I haven't had time to upload them on to my laptop but hopefully I'll post them soon. Today I'm going to be doing another Christmas tag which I seen Jenna from chicgeekdiary do so I thought I would do it aswell.

What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
I love everything, getting to spend some time with family, the atmosphere  the lights/decorations, just everything about it really.

When you were a kid, what did you leave for Santa on Christmas Eve?
Some biscuits or a mince pie & a glass of milk for Santa & a carrot for Rudolph

Do you and/or your family have any Christmas traditions?
Going to my Grans on Christmas day is the main tradition and really the only one we have.

When decorating, do you go all out or just do a small amount of decorating?
Small amount, mostly just a tree and some lights around the house nothing too major.

What is your favourite Christmas dinner food?
Everything is my favourite!! I love pigs in blankets, they are simply delicious and I like turkey with gravy and potatoes and everything else we normally have.

What is your favourite Christmas movie?
I have too many and I have done a post on my favorite Christmas movies if you want to go have a little look.

What is your favourite Christmas song?
Born  on Christmas Day by Brad Paisley. I love how the song starts off with him singing as a boy and then goes onto him singing now, its a special song that I listen to on repeat in the lead up to Christmas

What was your favourite gift you've ever received?
My DSLR camera that I received last year. Its my pride and joy!!

What is your favourite memory?
Spending time with my family every year is my favourite, it reminds me of how grateful I really am to actually spend Christmas with my family.

Does it snow where you live?
Yeah it does, sometimes it doesn't stick because it's normally been raining just before it so the ground is already too wet which sucks.

Do you own an "ugly holiday sweater"?
Nope but I'm going to buy one in about half an hour because tomorrow at school is Christmas jumper day so I need to go buy one.

Hot chocolate or eggnog?
I have never tried eggnog and I don't think I ever will if I'm honest, it just doesn't appeal to me so hot chocolate. I love putting whipped cream and marshmallows on top/

Have you ever been kissed under a mistletoe?
I haven't, I'm never actually seen real mistletoe which may sound like a shock but sadly it's true.

I hope you all enjoyed reading and I tag you to do it aswell!!

Have Faith & Believe In Yourself

Hello everyone!! Today was my the first performance of this years school pantomime Cinderella, and although I do acting all the time I felt like I was going to miss it up this time. We worked to a really short time scale to get the show ready in a matter of three weeks and I just didn't think we would be able to pull it off but we did. I stayed positive and didn't get nervous and went out there and showed everyone in the audience that I could do it. I gave myself something to be proud of and can't wait to do it all over again tonight. At times like this, this is when I know that on stage performing is where I truly belong (as cheesy as that sounds its true.) Sorry for the short post today I just had so much to prepare for tonight's show but tomorrow I'll post some pictures of the show and how it all went on our final performance.

Thanks for reading and hope you have a lovely day!!

My Christmas Wishlist 2013

My Christmas Wishlist

Hello everyone!! I thought I would show you some of the things on my wishlist this year, I took items from each category on my list & made a little collage.

1. Tartan dress - This one is from new look and I've seen it in stores and love it, its such a pretty dress and fits in with the tartan trend aswell.

2. Camera Lens Mug - I have wanted one of these for the longest time. Its such a novelty gift but it represents my love for photography.

3. Edge You Think You Know Me DVD - I am a major wrestling fan and Edge is one of my favorites so it wouldn't be right if I didn't own his DVD.

4. Mini Zara Office Bag - There was a massive hype on the blogging world a few months ago for the original office bag from Zara but I much prefer the smaller one as its cute but very practical. I have been needing a new bag for a few months as my last few bags zips are broken so this would be perfect.

5. Topshop Lipstick in Screen Siren - I have only ever owned nail polish from the Topshop makeup range and when I seen this colour of lipstick I just knew I had to add it to my Christmas list.

6. Chunky Knits Wash Bag - This must be the cutest wash/makeup bag I've seen and I feel the need to own it as my other makeup bags don't live up to this standard.

What have you asked for this Christmas?

I hope you enjoyed seeing some of the items on my Christmas wishlist this year. Have a lovely day!!

Gift Guide for Book Lovers

Books :)

Hello everyone!! As I have already done a book gift guide for children, I thought I would share some book ideas for those people in your life that love books but are not children. Hope you get some inspiration and find the perfect book for someone special.

Post Secret - Frank Warren once had an idea for an art project which involved him handing out postcards and asking people to write down a secret but anonymously. Most of the secrets are pretty weird and some are really emotional.

Listography - This book is perfect for list makers, at the top of each page there is a title and below is to create the list based on the theme.

Q&A  - I own this book and its a great little book to start your day but also a way of remembering and then in the future seeing how things have changed. Each day you are asked a question and over the course of 5 years you answer and see if things have changed or stayed the same.

My Wonderful World of Fashion - This book is like a colouring book for those that are passionate about fashion and drawing.

Teen Vogue Hand BookThis book is the mix of beautiful pictures, career advice and profiles of everyone and every aspect of the fashion industry. Perfect for anyone interested in a career in the fashion industry.

642 Things to Write About - This book is great for those that love to write, the book gives a prompt and inspiration to write stories. Its a perfect way to help your creativeness pour out of you.

The Travel Book - I own this book and I love it. The Travel Book captures the essence of every country on the planet through stunning photographs and atmospheric text

Music Listography & Film Listography - These books are very much like the original Listography book only they are more suited to music & film lovers.

Wreck This Journal - Wreck This Journal is a fantastic book for those creative people out there, its a book full of ideas on how to destroy it in many unique ways.

Hope you enjoyed reading & found some useful gift ideas.

Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree!

Hello everyone!! Today I finally set up my Christmas tree so I thought I would show you some pictures of it.

In the past few years my tree has been a little crazy but this year I went with a theme of red, white & blue with some pink and gold chocolates for the tree. My room is starting to look more festive now since I put it up and now I can't wait to put our family tree up.

Hope you enjoyed reading!!

Its Not In the Presents, its in His presence

Hello everyone, I saw this picture on Pinterest and thought it was so true. Nowadays Christmas is very comeralised and everyone becomes so stressed out about buying gifts for their loved ones. The real meaning of Christmas isn't there anymore for most people and at this time of the year you shouldn't think about the gifts but think about Jesus and the real meaning of Christmas.

Hope you have a lovely day!!

Christmas Bucket List Tag

Hello everyone, I seen a few people do the Christmas Bucket List Tag and thought it was a really good idea. I finish school on the 20th so I don't have a lot of free time but I want to try and get these things done before Christmas.

1. Go Ice Skating at George Square - I got every year and it's great fun. Ice skating outside definitely beats indoors.

2. Bake some Christmas treats - I really want to make some mince pies, Christmas cookies or gingerbread men this year. My sister and I have actually decided a couple of days before Christmas we are going to have a day filled with baking.

3. Put up my tree and decorations - I normally put mine up on the 13th because of the whole 12 days before Christmas tradition and this year is no different. I love putting up my lights and decorating my tree, its one of my favourite things about Christmas.

4. Watch some Christmas films - I haven't watched a single one yet so I need to dig mine out and get them watched

5. Make my Christmas cards - I have all the crafts to make the cards I want but I just haven't got around to doing so yet.

I hope you all enjoyed this tag and if you do it please leave a link below

How I Spend My Christmas Tag

Hello everyone, I seen Emma from thebrunettebeautyblogger do the how I spend my Christmas tag and I thought I would do it aswell.

What are you usually up to on Christmas Eve?
Normally I'm doing some last minute wrapping & just getting ready for Christmas really. I spend most of my day in my pyjamas if not all day, I watch some Christmas movies either the ones on TV or my DVDs, drink some hot chocolate. I unfortunately don't have any traditions like going to people's houses or anything like that.

Who do you spend your Christmas day's with?
I spend it with my mum, dad, older sisters, gran, uncle, auntie and cousins at my Gran's house for Christmas dinner.

Do you enjoy giving or receiving gifts?
I'm sure everyone enjoys receiving gifts but I also love giving, its nice just to give back to those important people in my life.

What does your outfit consist of on Christmas Day?
While opening my presents I'm in my pyjamas until about midday then I get into something a little bit more fancier. If I get any clothing for Christmas I wear that or I stick on a nice dress.

Do you enjoy shopping for your loved one's gifts?
I love shopping for them.

Have you ever received a gift that you disliked and pretended you liked it?
I can't remember any gifts that I've gotten that I didn't like, I'm sure there has been a few but I can't remember them.

What would your ideal Christmas be?
Every Christmas I always think it's pretty perfect, spending it with my family at my Gran's. Maybe some snow would top it off though.

What is your least favourite thing about Christmas?
How commercialised it has gotten, the real meaning of Christmas isn't really there now.

What is the best gift you have ever received?
Wow that's a hard one, probably my DSLR I think.

If you could choose one person to spend Christmas with who would it be and why? (Other than family)
Oh just probably my friends I guess, I wouldn't really want to spend it with anyone else other than my family.

Hope you enjoyed reading & I tag you all to do this x

Christmas Books for Children

Hello everyone, this year for the children in my family I decided to get them some books as their presents. Hope you enjoy & take some ideas x

This book is about when Santa sets off to deliver the presents and he leaves poor Christmas Bear behind, the story follows the adventures of the bear on its mission to reach Tom's house before Christmas morning.

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. Its such a classic and every child should read it.

I'm sure I had the jolly postman books when I was younger, this one is about him delivering Christmas greeting to various fictional characters.

I loved Angelina when I was younger & this book is perfect for any little girl at Christmas time all about a magical little mouse wanting to fulfil her dreams.

A classic book about a grumpy character who hates Christmas and tries to steal it for the residents of Whoville.

I loved Mog when I was younger and every year I always got a new one, the book is based around a cat named Mog escaping the crazy Christmas spirit.

I know if I was a child I would be delighted to recieve any of the above books.

Hope you enjoyed reading x

Ten Things I Love About Christmas

Hello everyone, today I thought I would tell you ten things I like about Christmas!!

1. Buying presents -  I love buying people presents, it makes me feel happy knowing I am buying a gift for someone else that they will really appreciate. I love the excitement of going into a shop or seeing someone online for someone.

2. Christmas Markets - They are the best thing ever, I love walking round all the stalls and eating  yummy treats or buying cute little things. Every year I look forward to going to the one in town and each year it gets better and better. I would love to go to one in like Germany.

3. Decorating my house - I love putting up my Christmas tree and decorating my room, it gets me really excited about Christmas and can be lots of fun.

4. Christmas Music - I love Christmas songs, theres just something about them that excites me. I just posted my favourite Christmas songs so go check it out.

5. Gran's Christmas Dinner - We have Sunday lunch every week but at Christmas its that little bit better. She goes all out with her home cooking and its just wonderful.

6. Wrapping Presents - People always seem to hate wrapping presents but I'm the opposite, I love doing it. My favourite thing about it is adding those finishing touches with little bows or ribbon and cute little tags.

7. Watching Christmas films - The excitement of putting on a Christmas film or watching one on TV in the weeks running up to Christmas is fantastic. The feeling I get inside is all warm and puts a great big smile on my face.

8. Ornaments - One of my favourite things to do each year is buy a new ornament for my tree and each year they bring out even better ones than the year before. I love ones that are really unique because they then stand out from the rest.

9. Mince Pies - Nothing beats a mince pie in the winter, its the only time I really eat them (because they aren't available the rest of the year) and when I do it reminds me of how much I actually love them

10. Irn Bru Snowman Advert - My favourite advert of all time is the Irn Bru Snowman advert, everyone says its not Christmas until you see the coca cola advert well not for me. The advert makes me so happy seeing Glasgow all ready for Christmas and makes me realise how much I actually love Christmas.

Hope you enjoyed reading, tell me below what's your favourite thing about Christmas?
